We recieved an urgent call from one of our Event Agency Clients, EventExec one Saturday lunchtime in September. They had been contacted by one of their own high-profile clients who had a strange and exceptionally urgent requirement.
Their Client had a large Luxury yacht berthed under Tower Bridge for London Fashion Week. It was a spectacular yacht that held the title of the largest wrapped item in the World. Its hull was completely wrapped in Gold , as well as the additional two tenders and the four jet skis on board!
The Client had decided they wanted to hold a party alongside the Yacht to include; High quality catering, Cocktail bar, Top DJ, and Sound and Lighting.
None of this would normally be an issue except that – 1) the event was due to take place 72 hrs after the initial phone call, 2) it required a marquee structure, 3) it was on a pontoon in the middle of the Thames, 4) It was the weekend, 5) There were 4 opportunities to deliver to the pontoon lasting 90 mins each before the event, 6) The client also wanted a 2m long bespoke ice-carving of the Yacht as a display feature at the event !
We had suppliers lined up and availability agreed by Sunday morning, submitted a fully costed quotation to the Client in Dallas in the US by Sunday Evening and obtained agreement prior to and subject to a site visit on Monday and received formal confirmation to proceed at 2pm on Monday lunchtime.
At tea-time we were also asked to source 40 bottles of Prosecco containing 22 carat gold leaf !!
The marquee construction started at 730 am on Tuesday Morning, the A/v crew followed the marquee construction and the ice carving arrived at 4pm. The fully lit, carpeted marquee , bar, cloakrooms and storage spaces. The caterers along and cocktail barmen were all ready to welcome the first guests at 6pm Tuesday evening for the party for 100 guests that ran through till midnight. The site was completely clear at 12 noon the following day.
The Yacht Captains comment was ‘We weren’t sure it was possible. You not only met our unrealistic demands but you surpassed them. You guys smashed it, you were frickin’ awesome!” Oh and the loved the Gold Leaf Prosecco !
